Many famous people are buried in the grave yard here. The whole of the Culross 'Royal Family' (the Macintyres, who found fame and fortune in 17th century theatre in Edinburgh) are buried here. Also here are the remains Captain (Black) Bob Forsyth, pirate and explorer whose total wealth was said to rival that of the 'Citie Fatheres of Edinburgh'

His epitaph reads:

Her Lyes the bodie of Captaine Robert Forsyth, seaman and great explorer.

He sailed the seas seven night and day
to finde out new lands and new ways.
Black Bob was unique for a man of his stand
Lived on the seas and diede on the land.
