Sinbad was brought up in a home. He makes frequent reference
to this, and we're always reminded of how bad it was, and of how little
love he was shown etc. (Brookie loves to flog social issues to death). |
He found his birth mother one day (working as a
librarian, and after initially rejecting him, she began to develop some
sort of relationship were her wee boy.
Eventually, though it all got too much for her, and she emigrated to
Australia, selling her house before she left and giving the proceeds
(£45,000) to Sinbad. As you do.
Sinbad bought the famous patio house, although he sold it in time to
Jimmy Corkhill. |
The memories of being in care were partly behind his
'befriending' a little boy (Andrew) who was deaf, and who later was
encouraged by his brother to claim that Sinbad had abused him. Sinbad was
innocent of this crime, but the story dragged on for months, and will
shortly result in Sinbad moving lock, stock and window bucket out of the
close. |

He met Andrew in a deaf school, where he was
going to learn to sign, after becoming deaf following one of Brookie's
many parade explosions. His one involved Ron Dixon's DIY gas installation,
and at one point it seemed Sinbad's legs might need to be cut of. Kylie
Stanlow, devil child of Lindsay Corkhill, got caught up in the explosion,
and ended up buried under Sinbad. The only way to reach her at one point
was via Sinbad's legs.
Realistic? I think not.
